Organized by the UNAF, the celebration included the involvement of the Minister of Agriculture.
The National Union of Peasant Family Producers (UNAF) hosted the annual celebration of the Day of the Peasant in the Araucania Region, bringing together agricultural producers and government authorities, headed by the Minister of Agriculture, José Antonio Galilea.
Daniel Rebolledo, President of the UNAF, highlighted the need to provide capital to small producers, as well as access to knowledge and technology to foster the development of these producers, who cultivate a major percentage of the arable land in the country.
The leader also discussed publicly the work that CGNA is doing with small-scale producers in the Araucania Region, with the aim of testing cultivars of premium quality in their farms that, once they reach the marketing stage, can provide them with higher economic returns.
The event was attended by agricultural leaders, legislators, the Regional Intendent Andrés Molina, regional advisors and representatives of agricultural services such as SAG, INDAP and INIA, which play relevant support roles.
Haroldo Salvo, Director of Research and Development for CGNA de I&D del CGNA, joined the celebrations for the Day of the Peasant, noting that "as a research center, we participate in the task of contributing to the development of small-scale producers, promoting the use of innovations and new technologies that we are developing with the aim of contributing to the development of the Araucania Region".
