Interés de investigación

El conocimiento de la fisiología de los cultivos es importante para orientar  su mejoramiento. Tratamos de obtener cultivos adecuadas para la alimentación que provengan de una planta con buen rendimiento y resistencia a los stress bióticos y abióticos.

En este contexto estamos desarrollando un proyecto en Lupino sobre los α-galactósidos de la familia de la rafinosa. Estos azúcares presentes en semilla  de leguminosa son importantes para la resistencia de las plantas a diferentes tipos de stress pero inducen flatulencia en los animales monogastricos.

Nuestro objetivo es evaluar el rol de los α-galactósidos en los diferentes tejidos de lupino para anticipar las consecuencias de un mejoramiento.

Una estudiante de pre-grado, Javiera Aravena y una estudiante de Magíster, Mónica Mathias están trabajando en este proyecto.
